So peaceful yet so tortured a visage... For me, it has a special significance: It is the bandages, that cover the scars, and make up the mask to hide the torment and suffering within...yet though it is peaceful, it's presence is a warning that something is wrong underneath.
The overall technique is fairly nice. With sharp contrast of light and dark, lending to it's anime/manga feal. I do not know if this was the intent, but it looks good this way. Though I can see a few "construction" lines in the larger version, I can not fault those, working mostly in pencil myself I realise they sometimes are hard to eliminate. The flow and curvature of the ribbons is nicely done. It looks as if this was part of a larger cast...or as if the ribbons from old wounds are coalescing into a face to tell their own story. Either way, their seems to be deeper meaning to the peace than first evident.
It is a simple, yet powerful piece.
